Getting a Library Card
Sigourney and Keokuk County residents can register for a Sigourney Library Card by taking a photo ID with their current address to the library and filling out a form. Parents may also fill out a form for their school-aged children to receive a library card. There is a 50-cent charge to replace lost cards.

Each registered patron may check out up to six items per library card. Most items are checked out for two weeks. Users with valid library cards from other Iowa communities may also check out library books from the Sigourney Library.

All items can be returned to the library during library hours. Books may be placed in the drop box outside of the library's front door. CDs, videos, and audio cassettes must be returned to the librarian.

Overdue, Lost & Damaged Items
Anything checked out on a library card is the responsibility of the registered user. Items overdue receive the following fines: $2.50 per day for videos, 10-cents per day for CDs, magazines, weekly books, and encyclopedias, and 5-cents per day for all other books and items. Items lost or damaged beyond repair will be replaced at the cost of the registered user. If a user accumulates $3.00 in fines, borrowing privileges will be suspended until the fine is paid.
