RECREATION FOR EVERYONE Quality of life isn't just comprised of nice neighborhoods and friends you can count on. It gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy what they love most; favorite past-times, family times, and a sense of relaxation - LIFE. Sigourney has the quality of life individuals and families are looking for. There are activities to keep the children involved, places for the avid sportsman to hunt and fish, and areas where families can go for "quality time". Children's sports include flag football, soccer, baseball, and softball. Saturday morning children's leagues are available at the local bowling alley. There are several organizations that involve children, including Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts, and 4H. The Sigourney Country Club is a 9-hole course found on the edge of town. Its rolling hills, large trees, and water hazard test the skills of everyone that plays there. There are weekly leagues for men and women and the weekends host tournaments throughout the summer months. Parks in the area include Legion Park, Yenruogis, Belva Deer Lake, and Chacauqua River Access. Legion Park is a city park not too far from the downtown district. Yenruogis and Belva Deer are county parks, each offering their own unique qualities, including fishing, hunting, and camping. Chacauqua River Access has a cement boat ramp into the North Skunk River. Oakwood Sporting Resort is a family owned pheasant hunting preserve located north of Sigourney on Highway 149. During the months of September through March, it is reserved for the hunting season. During the months of May through August, the resort is registerd as a bed and breakfast inn. The perfect getaway for families. |
