Camping is open all year round. A newly built restroom facility includes showers and flush toilets. There are 56 modern sites with gravel camping pads, electric and water hookups, and access to a sewer dump station. These sites are $12 per night. Eleven primitive camping sites available at $8 per night are walk-in only. These are provided with a campfire grill, picnic table, and are close to pit latrines and water hydrants.

There are trails for hikers, walkers, and riders. For people who like to walk with nature, there is an eight mile trail extending throughout the park. For the equestrian, horse trails are available, including a primitive camping site assigned specifically for the horse and rider at $6 per night. Space at this site is limited.

With the 260-acre "no wake" lake and seven fishing ponds, fishing is a gold mine at Belva Deer. Equipped with two concrete boat ramps, several fishing jetties, and one universally accessible pier, the lake has been stocked with largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, red-ear sunfish, channel catfish, bullhead, and walleye. Trees, culverts, rock piles, and pallet structures have been used to construct miles of spawning beds to insure excellent fishing for the avid angler.

More than 1,309 acres of Belva Deer is open to public hunting. Mixtures of timber, grassland, and wetland provide an excellent haven for pheasant, deer, rabbit, squirrel, turkey and waterfowl. All public hunting areas are marked with green signs and all refuge and private property boundaries are posted with yellow signs.
